I knew about a few of these (like Amazon and Spotify) when I was in college, but a lot of these I had no clue about! (But I sure wish I did… I could have saved so much money with these student discounts!)

You will probably be amazed by how many of the places that you already go (including clothing stores, movie theaters, and fast food restaurants) offer discounts for college students! I know I was.

Amazon Prime Student
I had Amazon Prime all throughout college and it was such a lifesaver! You get your first six months free then it’s only $59 a year or $6.49 a month as long as you are college student. (This is 50% off the regular price!)
Being an Amazon Prime member gets you free two-day shipping on most items (sooo helpful for me during college) and free streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows through Prime Video.

Rakuten
Rakuten (formerly known as Ebates) is an online cash back website.
The way it works is you sign up for an account, install their cash back browser extension, and then do your online shopping as usual.
They automatically apply discounts for you, and then every three months, they pay you (by check or PayPal) with all the money you saved that period!
They partner with thousands of stores, so almost any time you do online shopping, you will earn money back.
How to get the discount: Sign up for Rakuten and install their browser extension. (When you sign up, you’ll get $10 cash back after you shop for $25.)
UNiDAYS
UNiDAYS is a free deals website that offers discounts to college students in a bunch of different categories: clothing, beauty, food, health and fitness, technology, sports, entertainment, and more.
You’ll see them pop up quite a few times on this list, and that’s because you have to sign up for an account with them in order to get access to some of these student discounts. Safe to say that if I don’t have a discount on this list, check UNiDAYS because they might have it!

AMC Theatres
Want to go out for a movie night? Make it Thursday night, which is when AMC Theatres offer discounted movie tickets for college students!
How to get the discount: Bring your student ID with you to the movie theater and get a discount on your move ticket (only on Thursdays.)
Cinemark
Not every Cinemark theater offers student discounts, but some do! Click the link above to see if a Cinemark theater near you offers discounted student tickets.

Museums and Performance Venues
Looking for a fun weekend activity? Most museums and performances offer discounted student tickets. Off the top of my head, I know that in New York, the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center all offer discounted student tickets.

Spotify, Hulu, and SHOWTIME
This is an extremely sweet deal! As a college student, you can get three months free of Spotify, Hulu, and SHOWTIME. After that, it’s only $4.99 a month for all three services (normally $9.99+ a month.)
I loved having this discount in college because I was able to get unlimited music and TV show streaming for just five bucks a month.

Banana Republic
Students get 15% off their purchase at Banana Republic. This is a great place to shop for interview and internship clothes while you’re in college. The business casual clothes I got from here lasted me for years!

I’m honestly kicking myself that I didn’t know about Apple’s student discount when I was starting college. I paid full price for my MacBook Air (which I highly recommend by the way!) but I could have gotten it for $200 less if I’d known about Apple’s student pricing at the time.

Microsoft
Another option for getting a discounted laptop for college is with Microsoft. They offer 10% off all their Surface products for college students.

Adobe Creative Cloud is the best creative software suite out there and an industry standard if you’re interested in anything creative like photography, video editing, graphic design, illustration, etc.

Most colleges offer access to Office 365, which includes Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. However, if your college doesn’t offer this for some reason, you can still get free access to Office 365 products as a student.

Best Buy
Best Buy offers a variety of discounts for college students through their Student Deals program. For example, at the time of writing this, you can save $250 on a MacBook Pro if you’re a college student.

You Need a Budget
You Need a Budget (also known as YNAB) is an extremely popular budgeting app that offers a free year to college students. (It’s normally $5 a month.)

Travel
When it comes to travel, costs can add up really fast. Luckily, there are some really good travel and transportation discounts for college students.
Eurail
If you’re studying abroad or backpacking Europe, a Eurail pass can be a great purchase if you want to do a lot of train travel. And as a college student, you’re eligible for the Eurail Youth Pass, which gives you a 25% discount.
How to get the discount: You just need to be between the ages of 12 and 25 to take advantage of the Youth Pass.
Greyhound
While slightly less glamorous than traveling Europe by train, Greyhound buses are a cheap way to get around the United States and a lot of college students use them to go home or to visit friends at other schools.
When you purchase a Student Advantage Pass for $30 a year, you get 10% off all bus tickets. If you plan to take a Greyhound bus enough times throughout the year, this can save you some money.

Amtrak
Amtrak offers various student discounts ranging from 15-25% off your train fare. At the time of writing this, I see discounts for New York and Virginia college students, but new deals constantly pop up.

Public Transportation
Many cities offer public transportation discounts for college students. If you go to school on an urban campus, this might be worth looking into.

Student Universe
Student Universe is a discount travel site for students. They have negotiated exclusive rates with airlines, hotels, and tours just for students. It’s worth checking out their website to see if you can score a better deal on travel with their student discount than booking direct or through a travel booking engine.

Zipcar
Renting a car can be a huge pain if you’re under the age of 26, because young drivers typically get hit with a huge fee from rental car companies.
However, Zipcar offers discounts for college students which can make renting a car much more affordable. You can get a Zipcar membership for $25 a year (normally $70 a year) and hourly rentals from $9 or daily rentals from $74.
Penske
Need to rent a moving truck to move to or from college? Penske has got you covered with a 10% college student discount on moving trucks. Bonus: They won’t do an underage charge for renters between 18 and 23 years old.

Budget
Another moving truck rental company that offers a discount for college students in Budget. You can get 20% off local moves or 15% off one-way moves.

The New York Times
Want to start keeping up with the news more? College students get four weeks free of The New York Times and after that, it’s only $4 a month as long as you’re in college (normally $15 a month.)

Wall Street Journal
Another newspaper that offers a student discount is The Wall Street Journal which is great for keeping up with business news. You can also get it for just $4 a month while you’re in college. (It’s normally $19.50 a month.)

The Economist
The Economist also offers a student discount, although it’s not quite as good as the others. You can get 12 weeks of The Economist for $19 (normally $45.) After that, it goes up to $45 every 12 weeks.

Insurance
StateFarm
Need car insurance? StateFarm has you covered with their Good Student Discount. As long as you maintain “good grades” (they’re vague on what this means, so you may want to ask for clarification) you’re eligible for this 25% discount on car insurance. This discount applies until you’re 25 years old.

Geico
Geico rewards you for having good grades by offering a discount of up to $200 on car insurance for college students who maintain a “B” average or better.

Allstate
Allstate has a Smart Student Discount on car insurance full-time college students under the age of 25. You need to maintain “good grades” in order to be eligible. (Again, this is kind of vague so you’ll want to ask for clarification!)

Esurance
Another car insurance company that offers discounts for college students is Esurance. You can save up to 10% on car insurance if you’re a full-time college student and under 25 year old.

Nationwide
Nationwide offers a discount on car insurance for good students aged 16 to 24. The exact discount isn’t provided, so you will need to get a quote on this to see what it would be.

Food
Since most of the restaurants on this list are franchises, it’s up to the individual store to honor discounts for college students.
I am not able to confirm any of these discounts 100%, but it can never hurt to ask, especially if you’re already planning to eat at one of these places!
Chick-fil-A
This popular fast food chain started in Georgia and quickly spread across the country. As a college student, you can get a free drink with your meal.

If you live close to a Sam’s Club and you plan to do a lot of grocery shopping, then getting a membership at Sam’s Club might make sense for you.
Sam’s Club has super cheap groceries they sell at wholesale prices. A membership is $45 a year, but as a college student you get a $15 gift card when you sign up. With all the money you’ll save on groceries, a Sam’s Club membership can quickly pay for itself.
FedEx
Need to ship a package? You can get 20-30% off the shipping cost from FedEx when you’re a college student.
